William Shakespeare wrote a famous piece called “The Taming of the Shrew” in the late 16th century. In 1999, a modern version of Shakespeare’s piece was created into a film called “10 Things I hate About You”.In the end, Petruchio ends up “taming the shrew” and a man named Lucentio ends up winning Bianca and they marry as well.
The same thing happens in the movie when Patrick agrees to date Kat for the money presented to him.
They do fall in love with Katherine and Kat in the end.
The movie is modernized so that it takes place in a high school.
The play was meant for the audience of the that time period, as was the movie.
The play was very good but it can be hard to follow along in some of Shakespeare’s works if you don’t know some of the terms used back then.
An example would be the dowry that Petruchio received for marrying Katherine.
Even know I now know that dowry means money after I looked it up, it’s things like that that make reading Shakespeare somewhat difficult.
: popular high schooler Bianca Stratford (Larisa Oleynik) wasn’t allowed to date until her older outcast of a sister, Kat (Julia Stiles), accepted a date of her own.
In the movie, Cameron tutors Bianca as a French tutor.
Another example is that Petruchio, at first, only agrees to marry Katherine for the dowry.
